Special Needs Education
Special Needs PSR takes place Saturday Mornings from 10:00 am – 11:00 am and is scheduled from late September through the beginning of May. Through small group activities, hands-on activities and individual instruction, Good Shepherd faith formation activities, and technology based lessons using IPads,Catechists acquaint students who face physical, intellectual or emotional challenges with: Basic Catholic Christian beliefs, Sacramental preparation & Family activities.
No one is ever excluded from the Church because of a disability. No one is ever less a person in God's eyes because of a disability. People with disabilities have their place in the Church. Jesus welcomed all people.
Safety ProceduresStudent(s)/participants must be walked into the building by their parent(s) or other authorized adult. Parent(s) or other authorized adult must come into the building to pick-up their child(ren)/participant. If someone other than a parent picks up a student/participant, a release form must be signed by the parent in order to release the child(ren)/participant to the authorized adult.
Volunteers NeededSpecial Needs PSR is in need of several volunteer catechists. Time commitment is: most Saturday mornings through May from 9:30 to 11:15 beginning in September. Our students are acquainted with basic Catholic Christian beliefs and sacramental preparation is provided. Classes consist of: prayer, small group activities and individual instruction, Good Shepherd faith formation activities, and technology. Lessons are provided for this ministry. If you are in Jr. High or High School age, please consider this great opportunity to help spread Jesus' love by serving as an aide in our program. Service hours are available.
Please consider joining our small group of dedicated catechists. Each year our enrollment grows because it encompasses several parishes. Please call the Religious Education Office for more information.Fee: $55.00 one child; $50 each additional child.
