Support Ministries

Bereavement Ministry

The Bereavement Ministry is a dedicated group of volunteers who extend comfort and compassion to the bereaved families of Saint Gabriel Parish in their time of need. Three groups comprise this important parish ministry – the bereavement ministers, luncheon group and bereavement support group. Many volunteers give their time to help families through the difficult loss of a loved one – easing their pain by assisting with funeral Mass arrangements, providing a complimentary funeral luncheon and/or offering on-going grief support.

Elizabeth Ministry

Elizabeth Ministry is an outreach to women in special times of motherhood. It is based on Jesus' vision of the radical goodness, beauty and truth of human life. The purpose of this ministry is to affirm, support, encourage and assist women in response to their needs during childbearing years.

Green Team

The Green Team aims to help the St. Gabriel Community become better stewards of our resources and the environment. Our role is to:

  • to provide educational opportunities on relevant topics
  • to help assess our parish facilities for energy efficiency
  • to advocate for best practices in conservation, recycling, and energy management both on-site and for parishioners' homes
  • to provide links to online resources of interest to the community

Ice Cream Ministry for Altercare

Offering a friendly face and a sweet treat, this dedicated group of volunteers, both adult and children, visit and distribute ice cream on a weekly basis to the residents of Altercare Nursing Home, located next door to St. Gabriel Parish.

Lake County Job Seekers

Lake County Job Seekers is a networking group formed to aid people in our area in their search to find gainful employment.  The group is free and open to the public and meets every first and third Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the St. Gabriel Learning Loft Great Room. For more information, call Dan at 440-552-0629 or 440-552-0629 or Dave at 440-357-8033 or 440-357-8033. Or email them at lcjseekers@sbcglobal.net

Mission Circle

The mission of the St. Gabriel Mission Circle is "the Missions" throughout the world. A group of 40 dedicated women support missions in the United States and abroad financially, through fundraising efforts, and spiritually, through prayer.

Prison Ministry

Specially trained ministers reach out to incarcerated adult and youth of Painesville. During their regular visits, they lead groups in bible study and prayer bringing the Gospel message to those looking to turn their lives around. If you have a heart for ministering with this group, please contact Allison Capella at the Parish Office.

Respect Life Committee

Members of the Respect Life Committee work to promote the dignity of all human life by raising awareness, participating in events and raising funds. Members annually sponsor the Lemonade for Life event to benefit Birthright, support the Hannah’s Home "Boomerang Bottles," as well as take part in the annual Lake County Life Chain.
