St. Gabriel Worship and Prayer

We are called to foster, plan and celebrate prayerful, relevant and welcoming liturgical experiences by engaging the entire community in "full, conscious, and active participation" so that we may go forth to love and serve the Lord.

Gift Bearers

"While they were eating, he took bread... then he took a cup."

At the beginning of the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the gifts, which will become Christ's Body and Blood, are brought to the altar. It is praiseworthy for the bread and wine to be presented by the faithful.
(#73 General Instruction of the Roman Missal, Third Typical Edition.)

This Processional Ministry of Gift Bearers was restored to the Liturgy after the Second Vatican Council. It is more than simply putting bread and wine on the table.  First, we need to view our financial collection as a gift of ourselves. We can not celebrate the memory of Jesus' gift of himself without our first being generous with one another. The bread and wine then, can symbolize our total willingness to share our lives with each other and Christ.

Singles, families and children, are encouraged to sign up and take part in this meaningful ritual.
