St. Gabriel Worship and Prayer

We are called to foster, plan and celebrate prayerful, relevant and welcoming liturgical experiences by engaging the entire community in "full, conscious, and active participation" so that we may go forth to love and serve the Lord.

Liturgy Planners

When we think about preparing for liturgy, we usually think of the ministers. But the liturgy is the work of the whole assembly, and here we begin to see that many take this seriously. (Gather Faithfully together, Cardinal Roger Mahoney)

Music in Catholic Worship: Pastoral Planning for Celebration #13

The planning should go to the composition of such texts as:

  • the brief introduction
  • general intercessions
  • and other appropriate comments as provided for in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal.

Several teams of planners compose the Rite of Penitence, and the Prayers of the Faithful.

The teams also make recommendations for the Collect, the Preface and the Eucharistic Prayer for each Sunday Liturgy. Guidance and training on the principles of good Liturgy are provided.
