Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program
An alternative approach to religious education, this faith formation program for children ages 3-13 has a Montessori based curriculum and materials . Based entirely on scripture and liturgy, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd resides in a specially prepared environment called the Atrium. The hands on materials used to present lessons are designed to speak to the children in a special way with a dynamic, interactive, and multi-sensory approach. Stewardship is interwoven into the sessions to instill a strong sense of purpose and service to others. Weekly sessions run from mid-September through April on Sunday evenings or after school on Mondays. Children are grouped into one of four levels depending on their age/grade. Ninety plus hours of specialized training is required of catechists in their respective level in order to provide a theologically sound program (including sacramental preparation in second grade) to encourage and facilitate your child's faith formation.
