Empowering God’s Children
Empowering God’s Children is a faith-based child safety and formation program created to help children understand the dignity of their bodies and the importance of personal boundaries. Through age-appropriate lessons, children are taught how to recognize unsafe situations, respond effectively, and reach out to trusted adults for help.

Grounded in Catholic teaching and guided by the belief that every child is a gift from God, this program equips young people with tools to protect themselves while also fostering respect, responsibility, and compassion toward others. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate, reinforcing the lessons at home and helping to build a culture of safety within the parish community.
The goal of Empowering God’s Children is to ensure that every child grows in an environment where they feel loved, valued, and protected, while deepening their understanding that God’s love calls us all to care for one another.

The following paperwork needs to be completed by an Employee/Volunteer:

1. Volunteer Application Form with Virtus 

2. Read The Policy for the Safety of Children In Matters of Sexual Abuse and then arrow back to the application to confirm.

3.  Standards of Conduct for Ministry and then arrow back to the application to confirm.

4. Provide a copy of your driver license if not uploaded on application.

FINGERPRINTING DATES

Fingerprinting will take place in the St. Gabriel Parish Life Center, across from the chapel.

​Fingerprinting:

1. All employees/volunteers are required to be fingerprinted through BCII. If employee/volunteer has not lived in the state of Ohio for the previous five years, they are required to have a FBI check. 

2. There will be a cost associated with this - BCII $25.00. The cost for an FBI Check is $30.00. These fees are due at the time of fingerprinting. (Drivers license will be needed at this time) Cash or checks made out to St. Gabriel Church. 


3. Volunteers 14-17 years of age are required to be fingerprinted; the parish will cover this cost. (Minors will need their social security number) Finger Printing Permission Slip (Web Check Waiver) needs to be signed by a parent for all minors.


4. If you are from another parish, or have been employed through the Diocese of Cleveland, and have been fingerprinted in the last twelve months, we will accept a copy of the BCII report or FBI report.
