Service Ministries
St. Gabriel Hot Meal Program
Each Tuesday afternoon/early evening, St. Gabriel's Hot Meal Program cooks and serves meals for the homeless in downtown Painesville. Compassion, listening and prayerfulness are among the gifts needed. High school age youth and adults are welcome.
St. Gabriel Food Pantry
St. Gabriel Food Pantry provides food to families in need in the Painesville, Mentor and Concord communities. The efforts of our many volunteers and donors assure that food is provided with sensitivity to our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are here to serve with love and compassion and no one with a need is refused help. While all of us are susceptible to hard times, we are here to support one another and follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
St. Vincent de Paul Society
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is an international Catholic lay organization offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering. Our conference was organized in 1986 and has about 40 members who visit the needy and answer calls from neighbors who need help with food, rent, utilities, medicine, clothing and more. We often refer clients to public and religious agencies and may also provide some financial aid when funds allow. We are mindful to be good stewards of funds entrusted to us. Typical clients are the unemployed, single parents, the sick, the disabled and handicapped. We prayerfully encourage clients to be active in helping themselves when possible.
Welcoming Committee
The mission of the St. Gabriel Welcoming Committee is to meet personally with new parishioners in a friendly and inviting manner, to conduct the enrollment process in a way that enables them to recognize the vibrancy of our parish, to understand the opportunities available for the further development of their faith life, and to invite them to share that faith by becoming involved in one or more ministries now or in the future.
Childcare
Do you love children? Do you feel called to lead them?We welcome you to be a part of our Child Care Ministry.
The Child Care Ministry provides a safe and enriching environment for our parish children to stay in while their parents are attending special parish events. For example, our child care ministers will look after younger siblings of first communion participants while they are receiving the sacrament with their parents. Child care usually takes place in the Community Room and Meeting Room 1 (lower level of the parish life center).
Care givers must be VIRTUS trained and fingerprinted - but certification is easy. Adults and student volunteers are needed. There are various times and dates open. Call the parish office to add your name to the volunteer list. Thank you in advance for your help.
